Reinertson Racing Terrible #1234; 250 at Primm Race Report

Woodside, CA (April 21, 2008) #1234; Rob Reinertson, Reinertson Racing, started 6th off the line in his #1234 ProTruck and by Pit #1 at mile 31 he was the third truck on the course. Upon reaching Pit #2 Reinertson moved himself up to second position. While he was running physically second, in corrected time, he was in the lead. After a flawless pit stop at main pit, at race mile 85, Reinertson started the second lap. The Staats truck, #1220 was the lead truck and when they had a flat tire, Reinertson passed them to take it over.

At race mile 100 we had a flat and the Statts truck passed us back, thus creating a race between the two. Staats had another flat and once again we took the lead. The two trucks were very close the remainder of the second lap. We calculated at main pit the fuel milage from the first lap and made a call to dump 2 fuel cans and put the light bar up in case Rob was going to finish at dusk. Tires were checked and in great shape. The ProTruck looked great and all the body panels were still perfect.

Due to successful and lightning fast pit stops, Reinertson was able to remain in front of the Staats truck. The third lap Rob stayed in the lead for about 30 miles and was passed by Staats in the heavy woops . Rob knew he had to stay within 30 seconds and to remain in first as the Staats truck started 5th off the line 30 seconds ahead of rob.

At race mile 221 Reinertson #1234;s day would end when the drive shaft failed at 73 miles an hour which resulted in severe damage to the transmission housing. The IRC track unit had malfunctioned and as we were monitoring the race with our laptop computer on the IRC live satellite tracking web page the race truck speed went to 850mph then to 1145 mph. With no radio contact, the Reinertson Racing crew was worried about Rob and his co- driver Armondo Guzman. One of Reinertson #1234;s crew, Mike Salimbeni, went to the IRC trailer and they were in communication with Rob and the bad news sated worse fears, that they had crashed. IRC was able to supply a direct phone number to the box in the truck in order to make plans to extract the Reinertson Racing Proline Accessories ProTruck.
