Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

What's New?

For Immediate release, Reinertson Racing #234, 2008 Score Tecate Baja 500

Woodside, CA (June2, 2008) #234; Rob Reinertson, Reinertson Racing, started 3rd off the line in his #234 Protruck.

Racing hard off the start at about mile 5 the Creagan Truck, #203 had a flat and Reinertson took the lead. At race mile 10 the Voss Truck, #235 took the lead. Reinertson ran the Voss truck down in the rough stuff over the summit. The #235 Truck got a flat tire and Reinertson retook the lead in the rocks.

Reinertson ran a strong pace until 165 getting a flat and stuck in the wash and lost 20 min. Then at race mile 190, Reinertson got another flat, sidewall damage. A sharp rock or cactus most likely caused the flat. Reinertson was now 30 minutes behind the Voss Truck, #235, but by mile 260 he had narrowed the gap to 12 minutes.

At race mile 320 the #234 Reinertson Protruck transmission started to slip rev when shifting. Reinertson stopped and his co-driver added transmission fluid, which seemed to fix the problem, most likely caused by a seepy tail shaft. Reinertson was running hard and into Uruapan at 370, he got stuck in the first bad silt hill when he had to lift to keep from hitting a local driver on the course in a Chevy 4x4. The Creagan Truck, #203 passed Reinertson as he was getting pulled out.

At race mile 375 Reinertson's day would end. He was climbing the last silt hill and attempted to take an alternate line because another truck was stuck in the main groove. He swung to the right; his truck went over the burm and was sucked over the edge. His truck barrel rolled 4 times down into a ravine. Broken front-end parts were all that kept the Reinertson #234 Protruck from continuing where as the truck landed on its wheels and sustained no other mechanical damage. Parts delivery from his support crew was too late to finish on the allotted 20-hour time schedule. However, after installing the front-end parts he did drive the truck out of the ravine and back out on the course without assistance.

"This was our first race with the new General Grabber tire and even though we had two freak flats, the tire was extremely durable in the rocks and had great bite. The AEM synthetic air filter performed flawlessly even in the heavy silt it did not plug as the K&N filters we ran in the past had. The #234 Reinertson Racing Proline Accessories Ford F-150 Protruck was a winner today performing superbly, however luck was not with us for the 2008 Score Tecate Baja 500," said Rob Reinertson.

Reinertson Racing's next scheduled race is Pikes Peak International Hill climb on July 20th 2008.

Reinertson Racing #1234; Terrible 250 at Primm Race Report

Woodside, CA (April 21, 2008) #1234; Rob Reinertson, Reinertson Racing, started 6th off the line in his #1234 ProTruck and by Pit #1 at mile 31 he was the third truck on the course. Upon reaching Pit #2 Reinertson moved himself up to second position. While he was running physically second, in corrected time, he was in the lead. After a flawless pit stop at main pit, at race mile 85, Reinertson started the second lap. The Staats truck, #1220 was the lead truck and when they had a flat tire, Reinertson passed them to take it over.

At race mile 100 we had a flat and the Statts truck passed us back, thus creating a race between the two. Staats had another flat and once again we took the lead. The two trucks were very close the remainder of the second lap. We calculated at main pit the fuel milage from the first lap and made a call to dump 2 fuel cans and put the light bar up in case Rob was going to finish at dusk. Tires were checked and in great shape. The ProTruck looked great and all the body panels were still perfect.

Due to successful and lightning fast pit stops, Reinertson was able to remain in front of the Staats truck. The third lap Rob stayed in the lead for about 30 miles and was passed by Staats in the heavy woops . Rob knew he had to stay within 30 seconds and to remain in first as the Staats truck started 5th off the line 30 seconds ahead of rob.

At race mile 221 Reinertson #1234;s day would end when the drive shaft failed at 73 miles an hour which resulted in severe damage to the transmission housing. The IRC track unit had malfunctioned and as we were monitoring the race with our laptop computer on the IRC live satellite tracking web page the race truck speed went to 850mph then to 1145 mph. With no radio contact, the Reinertson Racing crew was worried about Rob and his co- driver Armondo Guzman. One of Reinertson #1234;s crew, Mike Salimbeni, went to the IRC trailer and they were in communication with Rob and the bad news sated worse fears, that they had crashed. IRC was able to supply a direct phone number to the box in the truck in order to make plans to extract the Reinertson Racing Proline Accessories ProTruck.
